Exposed and Tribal

I don’t have a lot of clever things to say about this outfit, but I just haven’t blogged it yet, and I really love it, so here you go.

1 - NA print dressIf you think my back looks especially red, you’d be correct.  I try so hard to remember my sunscreen and reapply like the good little part-Irish girl that I am.  But, sometimes I forget, and then I turn into the lobster you see here.

How do you feel about all the tribal and Native American prints that are in right now?  I am neutral on them, because some – like this one – I absolutely love.  But, some are just not pretty at all.  So, it just depends completely on the item.

Also, how do you feel about exposed zippers?  I’ll never forget the first time I saw one – I was super confused by it.  But, now I’ve come to (generally) really appreciate the trend.

Let me hear your thoughts!

  1. You’re super cute, but I don’t love exposed zippers. I’ve put several otherwise cute things back on the rack because of them. :/ Why are they are trend? (Serious question 😉 )

That is a good question, Naomi, and one I asked myself when they first came out. I honestly don’t know, but if I had to venture a guess, it would be that since there is nothing actually new under the sun, designers have to find some way to modernize a 15-20 year old look, even if it’s something as insignificant as a zipper. Another zipper trend (I’ve recently learned from people who sew) is the “invisible zipper” – those super skinny ones that are basically, well, invisible. My mom’s seamstress doesn’t even know how to do that kind because they came out after she learned to sew.

      • That’s really funny that she doesn’t know how to do that. I much prefer the invisible zippers, but they sort of seem a tad pretentious for some reason. Yay zippers!
