When my grandchildren look back on pictures of me in 2015, I think the number one question they’re going to ask is, “Why did Grannie wear so many rompers and jumpsuits?” And for that, I will have no answer except that I absolutely love them. Maybe because they really are a new (well, new again) trend which makes them just fun. Think about it – hem lengths change, but you’re still wearing a dress or skirt. Cuts and washes of jeans change, but you’re still wearing jeans. There aren’t too many entire pieces of clothing that come and go out of style. But rompers and jumpsuits are definitely only in for a limited period of time. So, I want to take full advantage of these cuties while I can.
I bought this one (and my earrings) on sale at Francesca’s a few weeks ago, and I’m so in love. The color is perfect, the crochet is neat and not cheap looking, and the cut seems very feminine – a little flirty without being trashy. Plus, there is a ribbon to tie a bow…and you know I’m a sucker for anything with a bow.
So, that’s my theory on why I’m obsessed with rompers. Are you also – if so, to what do you attribute your deep love? If not, what don’t you like about them (going to the bathroom is annoying, I’ll give you that…) Can you think of any other pieces that come and go (rather than just change like the shirt/skirt/jeans staples)?
