Church Lady

For the longest time when I moved to Georgia, I didn’t go to church.  I would watch my beloved Virginia Beach church on webcast, but actually going to a church building just didn’t happen.  It wasn’t that I didn’t want to go, per se…I just could never find something I liked as well as what I’d left behind.

Well, the past few weeks I’ve decided to bite the bullet and just go to the church I like okay…because some community worship is better than none at all.

One of the perks of this decision, though, is that I have an excuse to wear pretty clothes on Sunday morning.  I mean, these are clothes I could wear to work, but I don’t usually dress up this much for the office.  So it still feels special.

A couple weeks ago, I broke out my blue jumpsuit (you may recognize it from my patriotic Memorial Day post) and paired it with turquoise this time, instead of red and white.  Of course, no one would be deceived by my new shoes into thinking this is a totally different outfit.  But, it feels fresh to me when I can mix and match different shoes and accessories.

I used to get in fights with my dad in middle school about wearing jeans to church.  Those days are obviously long gone, but the memories make me smile.  Do you still dress up for church, or is your church super casual and progressive with a jeans-wearing pastor?  What did you and your parents fight about you wearing when you were younger?

  1. I’m in my fifties now, so it was a different generation but me dad did not want me to wear boots or have my ears pierced. My mom was a little more sympathetic so I was able to get my ears pierced when I turned 17. My grandmother bought me the boots for Christmas. Thank goodness for the undeniable power of grandmothers.

What would life have been like without boots (or earrings!)?! Glad your grandma gave in, Bonnie! 🙂
