Greenery

I tend to wear colors in phases. Earlier this year, I couldn’t get enough peach/soft coral. A summer or two ago, I was all about the hot pink. Burgundy/wine is still riding high in my esteem. But, lately, I’ve really been feeling green – particularly, rich greens, like forest or emerald.

Imagine my smugness, then, when I learned that Pantone has declared “Greenery” as the 2017 color of the year. While that spring green shade isn’t my favorite, I felt very ahead of the trend by already deciding I needed more green in my wardrobe. (Please note: this decision might have been influenced by the greens already beginning to creep into stores. I think this is a chicken/egg argument, and I’m maintaining that I was ahead of the curve.)

Here is one of my favorite recent green purchases – an off-the-shoulder top. Of course.

I like to call the full outfit, “how many trends can I wear at once?” How many do you see (it’s like one of those games from Highlights magazine when we were kids)?

My dad is not usually on the cutting edge of fashion, but maybe he’s discovered something I haven’t. Please weigh in on the great shoe debate, and have a happy weekend!

Spring Fever

Keeping with my a-seasonal decor as I clear out my backlog of outfits, here is another Christmas tree picture with an outfit more seasonally appropriate in color for spring. But, the skirt was new, as were the bracelets, so I had to break them out early.

I’m a fan of wearing colors whenever you want, honestly – particularly if the weather where you live warrants it (none of this saving white for after Memorial Day when it’s already been almost 90).

But, it is important not to get too carried away, and at least anchor the pieces with something more appropriate to the weather. In my case, I did that with leggings and boots. I added my fun purple bangles, and kept the rest of the jewelry rather simple to let them carry the weight of the attention. And with that, I was ready to bring some color to an otherwise dreary season.
1 - purple shirt, yellow skirtHow do you feel about wearing colors out of season? Do you try to reserve spring colors for spring, etc, or just mix everything up? What about red/green when it’s not Christmas or black/orange when it’s not Halloween? Let’s talk color!

Purple, Lilac, Lavender

For a girl who loves color as much as I do, today’s “Purple, Lilac, Lavender” prompt seemed pretty easy.  But, I decided to try to get as many shades of that lovely hue in as possible.  Thanks to my cute floral infinity scarf, I think I covered all three, and my shoes (which sadly, are on their last leg, RIP) made sure no one forgot which shade of the rainbow I was highlighting.

I have a friend who wears something purple every single day.  I like that about her.  While I don’t think I have that much dedication to any one shade, I do like the idea of having a signature color (a la Elle Woods) that you can always go to when you want to feel good about yourself or celebrate something special.  For me, that color will always be pink.  I don’t really have a lot of it in my closet, but it’s a cheerful color that always makes me feel pretty and feminine.
1 - purple, lilac, lavenderDo you have a “signature color” (or, one that you just really enjoy wearing)?  If so, what is it, when do you wear it, and what do you like about it?  Let’s bring some color to this black and white Monday!
