If you missed it yesterday, I’m doing a style challenge on Instagram, and trying to stay one day ahead of the prompts on my blog. Unfortunately, that wasn’t really possible for tomorrow’s prompt, “Check Her Out”, so you’ll just have to swing by @tastefullytrendysb on Instagram to see how I interpret that and maybe I’ll blog the full outfit someday (spoiler alert: I may look like a picnic blanket).
Instead, today I’ll stick with my two-fer Tuesday theme, this time highlighting the classic nude pump and the trendy arm party (aka stacks of bracelets).
The arm party is a trend I haven’t quite mastered yet. I get the concept – pile all kinds of random things on your arm, that are loosely connected, either by the color of the metal, or by their funkiness. Or not at all. I spent quite a while on Pinterest the other day trying to learn how to do this. I think the real problem is I don’t have the right pieces. I have a billion bangles, but to really have an arm party, you need different shapes, textures, designs, etc. So, I’m on the right track with the looks below, but don’t copy me yet…I still need to get myself to Forever 21 for some cheap starter pieces while I master the look, before I invest in some higher quality jewelry (just kidding…since when have I ever had high quality jewelry?)
Anyway, I call this first look, Teacher Chic. Because, a cardigan. Duh. And a cute dress. It’s not quite Jessica Day, but we’re getting there.
Next up is one of my favorite trends: the jumpsuit. Again, I went with stacks of bangles, and again, not quite the arm party look, but since I don’t live in New York or Nashville, it’s probably okay that I’m still working through the trend.
The nude pumps in both serve to lengthen the leg (that’s a universally understood principal of nude heels, and why they are worn by starlets everywhere), and not to distract from the more interesting elements of the outfits.
What do you think of these two looks? Have you started having arm parties? If so, what are some of your tips (besides get a watch…I really need a watch)? Also, do you feel stupid calling it an arm party? Because I do, but I’m not going to fight the system on this one. I want to hear your thoughts!
