Surprise! My green pants are back. I actually really love these pants, so I guess it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. I was trying to save them for a Two-fer Tuesday, but I decided I needed to clear this photo out of my queue.
So, here you go! Totally different look – same pants. I love chambray shirts for their ability to match with ANYTHING, and for the way they can automatically make an outfit look more casual, but still put together at the same time. My boots are super hard to walk in, but equally super cute and I’m really into tan these days as an accent color (as opposed to black, for example). A few simple accessories, and I was done!
Do you have a pair of pants that you just love (besides jeans, because duh)? What do you love about them – fit, color, comfort, the way they look on your butt? Let’s swap some pants love!
I probably should make Target off-limits to myself. Honestly, I cannot go into that store and walk away without buying something. But, when that something is this super cute multi-colored tank that I got for $8 or so, I guess I shouldn’t beat myself up too much.
The first time I wore it was for a kid’s birthday party…I might have been overdressed, but then again, this is me. I don’t get much more casual than this outfit, and my Holy Land sandals helped keep me more grounded.
I don’t think I’ve talked yet about this necklace (if I have, bear with me. I repeat stories all the time, and I’m too lazy right now to go back and see what I’ve written). Anyway, I was in Texas over the 4th of July for a photo shoot with my dear friend Julianne (aka the most creative person I’ve ever met in my life). The shoot featured me as Cinderella – my cartoon idol. It was really fun, and I bought this necklace at my new favorite store, Sam Moon, as a great $3 memento of the occasion. Pictures to come soon!
The second outfit is one of those that didn’t photograph quite as well as it looked in real life. I don’t know how/why that happens, but trust me – it was cute.
Technically, there is no actual turquoise in this blouse, but it has every other color, and blues and greens that are close, so to the casual observer (i.e., everyone), it works just fine. Colors can be deceptive like that – it’s pretty easy to make people see what you want them to see, if you just wear it with confidence.
One thing I really like about this outfit is the layered heart necklaces. I’ve not ever been able to do the layered necklace trend quite right, but this variation works (now that the trend is on its way out, but whatever…)
Today’s post is all about real life. Because, sometimes it rains and you look like this:
Bedraggled hair: check. Soaked jeans: check. Makeup worn off because I didn’t take this picture at lunch like I usually do: check. Slightly odd setting/angle because I don’t have a good place to take pictures inside my house: check. (Side note: who is taking all those other fashion blogger’s pictures where they’re casually walking through the street? Do they have personal photographers that follow them around? Or husbands? Or do they just set up a tripod in the middle of the street, tossing all cares to the wind? And who is stopping traffic so they don’t get run over? I feel like I’m missing out on all the industry secrets.)
I’m sure I’ll wear this sweater again soon and then do a cute blog post about it – because it’s a really amazing sweater. In the meantime, let’s all have grace for ourselves, because, as my first boyfriend’s misspelled tattoo said, “C’este la vie.”
