Halloween Colors

This outfit is definitely out of season now, guys, but I just wanted to write a quick-post, and since orange is at least a Halloween color, I hoped you might forgive the anachronism.

But it is super cute, right?

1-orange-pants-and-tankSpeaking of Halloween, what’s everyone going to be this year? If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already figured out my costume. If you don’t, then you’re welcome to add me! tastefullytrendysb. I’m pumped about it – just have to figure out where I’m going to wear it. Ha!

Halloween colors are pretty much the worst, but orange has become one of my favorites, and I guess because my brother went to Clemson, I can’t even hate on the orange and purple combo. But, let’s all promise not to look like witches in orange or purple and black – okay?

TBT: Neon Light

Ages ago, I talked about a new feature on my blog – Throwback Thursday.  Basically, I had all these summer outfits I’d never blogged, and if I didn’t now, I never would.  This post is even more of a TBT because I actually wrote it weeks ago – I just didn’t ever publish it.  So, let’s take a step back in time, shall we?

So, as I sit looking at my beautiful Christmas tree in my cozy living room, let’s all have a moment of silence for summer and neons.  May the Christmas season be long and beautiful…and then summer come immediately.
1 - yellow tee, green shorts, pink shoesDo you miss the bright colors (I mean, seriously – I’m just color blocking every shade in the rainbow in this outfit) of summer, or are you happy with the rich, warm hues of winter, with boot socks and chunky sweaters? Also, do you have your Christmas tree up yet?  Send me pictures – I’d love to see!

Now that it’s January 7, I guess the more appropriate question is, have you taken your tree down yet?  I’m never in a huge hurry to take it down because everything seems so empty afterwards.  However, I am grateful that I have a January birthday, because that keeps this month from being a total downer.

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Two-fer Tuesday: Multi-colored Tank

I probably should make Target off-limits to myself.  Honestly, I cannot go into that store and walk away without buying something.  But, when that something is this super cute multi-colored tank that I got for $8 or so, I guess I shouldn’t beat myself up too much.

The first time I wore it was for a kid’s birthday party…I might have been overdressed, but then again, this is me.  I don’t get much more casual than this outfit, and my Holy Land sandals helped keep me more grounded.

1 - multi colored tank, green shortsI don’t think I’ve talked yet about this necklace (if I have, bear with me.  I repeat stories all the time, and I’m too lazy right now to go back and see what I’ve written).  Anyway, I was in Texas over the 4th of July for a photo shoot with my dear friend Julianne (aka the most creative person I’ve ever met in my life).  The shoot featured me as Cinderella – my cartoon idol.  It was really fun, and I bought this necklace at my new favorite store, Sam Moon, as a great $3 memento of the occasion.  Pictures to come soon!

The second outfit is one of those that didn’t photograph quite as well as it looked in real life.  I don’t know how/why that happens, but trust me – it was cute.

Technically, there is no actual turquoise in this blouse, but it has every other color, and blues and greens that are close, so to the casual observer (i.e., everyone), it works just fine.  Colors can be deceptive like that – it’s pretty easy to make people see what you want them to see, if you just wear it with confidence.

1 - multi colored tank, turquoise skirtOne thing I really like about this outfit is the layered heart necklaces.  I’ve not ever been able to do the layered necklace trend quite right, but this variation works (now that the trend is on its way out, but whatever…)

Moving on Up

Hi everyone, and welcome to the new and improved Tastefully Trendy!  If you’re viewing this on a phone, it probably doesn’t look that different or exciting.  Sorry.  But, if you’re on a desktop, your life is kinda changed forever, right?  I thought so.

I was so excited about all my newly acquired HTML knowledge, that I was going to build this site from the ground up.  Then, reality set in and I realized that, with my skill set and depth of expertise, doing so would take me, oh, about 17 years.  So, I still kept a template, but I’m happy with how it turned out. Let me walk you through a few things – just to be sure no one gets lost in the wonder of it all.

First of all, those tabs across the top look pretty snazzy, don’t they?  I’ve decided to branch out a little bit from my daily outfits and include tutorials (I’m going to shoot for once a week…so maybe once a month is a realistic expectation) to product reviews (these will be products I purchase for myself, of course, until I can get someone to send me their items to review for free), and what I’m most excited about, “That Single Life”.    As probably all of you know because you’re my facebook friend or have been following my blog and I hold very little back on either platform, I’m now 30, and still single.  I didn’t choose this life – it chose me.  And, with this position comes great responsibility…to share all the ridiculous stories that happen to me.  Out of respect for those involved, I’ll change the names and maybe some of the details.  But, men, if you recognize yourself, I apologize.  Just think of me as the real-life Taylor Swift.

So, what do you think?  Do you like the new template and/or new direction?  (Don’t worry, I’ll still post about my outfits most of the time – it’s what I do best!)  Do you hate it?  Are you personally offended that I compared myself to Taylor?  Let me hear your thoughts in the comments!

(BTW – I can change that block of text in the center to a logo…if I had one.  If any of my graphic design friends are bored one day and want to just draw me up something pretty, I wouldn’t say no.)

Oh, and just so this post isn’t entirely text, here’s a selfie of what I wore to watch that horrible Super Bowl last night.  That is all. wpid-wp-1422933388848.jpeg

Rubber Ducky, You’re the One

I don’t really even know what to say about this outfit.  I think a duck sweater completely speaks for itself.  I mean, really – have you ever seen anything cuter in your life?

This sweater is so adorable that when I saw it on the mannequin in the store window, I marched right in and asked where it was in the store, bought the last one, and most shockingly – paid full price for it.  I never pay full price, even if full price is only $25.

Also, lime green is quickly becoming my new neutral.  It just complements so many things in such an unexpected way!

Bonus: over the next couple months, I’ll be on the road a lot for work.  I hope you will forgive any delays/missed posts, because I do get pretty busy.  But, your patience will be rewarded with new carpet to look out and a cleaner room as a background.  Hotels are delightful.

Sweater and shorts were both bought on my last magical shopping trip

Eye of the Tiger

I know I promised this post yesterday, but I was having blogger issues yesterday and traveling…but, good things come to those who wait!

As I promised, this post is all about Tigers…specifically Bulldog-eating Tigers!  Saturday was the first full-day of college football, and how lucky for me that I was supporting the best team of the week!  Now don’t get me wrong, I like UGA.  I’m an SEC girl, except for LSU and Texas A&M (sorry, Kitty Cat – get your QB under control!).  But, my brother goes to Clemson, so my blood loyalty trumps my artificial ones.

Clemson’s colors are orange and purple, as my shirt and jewelry demonstrate.  But, in the absence of purple shorts (which, now that I think about it, would be a great addition to my wardrobe), I veered off the beaten path and added my new $6 Forever 21 lime green ones.

Side note: these shorts are sized S/M/L.  How is that possible?  Does Forever 21 expect only three sizes of people to buy these particular shorts?  Or, did they get mislabeled like elastic gym shorts?  It’s odd to me.

Of course, me being me, I still wore a jeweled bracelet and bow flip-flops, and in true Clemson sorority girl fashion, purple pearls.  Just because you watch with the guys doesn’t mean you have to look like them.

Saturday’s game was awesome, but Thursday begins the real excitement….NFL kickoff!  Get ready for a lot of white and blue.  The Colts are back in business, and I still wear my Peyton jersey for Broncos games.  It’s gonna be a great season!

Prediction: Peyton gets his second ring this season, Colts win the AFC South.  Watch it.
